When we first learned about the Mid-Columbia Children’s Museum (MCCM), we loved the idea. Their vision statement explains it clearly:
“Our vision at the Mid-Columbia Children’s Museum is to bring a STEM/STEAM centered children’s museum to the Tri-Cities, WA community. We will be a vibrant and innovative community hub that inspires curiosity and lifelong learning for all children and their families. We aim to collaborate with our diverse community to highlight the unique industries and opportunities in our region. Our intention is to cultivate a generation of engaged and curious critical thinkers who are empowered to create a better future for themselves and their communities.”
To us, it sounds like exactly the kind of facility the Tri-Cities area needs! So when the opportunity came up to be one of the Founding 50 sponsors, it was a no-brainer.
The MCCM recently picked up $1 million in state funding, moving things much closer to reality. The Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business has a good article explaining where things stand now as they continue to finalize funding, develop the concepts and designs for exhibits and hands-on learning spaces, and find the right location to build.
Here are a few of the museum renderings done by FRAME Integrative Design Strategies, and provided to us by the MCCM.

How cool does that look?? We’re so excited to support them!
Matt, Lisa, and I are big believers in the #SupportLocal movement, whether it be local businesses, charities, or community organizations like the MCCM. If you want to join us in supporting them, click this link to see the different ways you can do that — and be sure to follow them on social media, too!
