Finding Direction

I recently moved from one real estate brokerage to another. I have a lot of friends at the brokerage where I left, and only one at the new place. Change isn’t something I tackle with ease, and when I was discussing making the move with my real estate coach, he asked me to tell him the six words I associated with making this move. I came up with focused, freedom, brave, directed, powerful and strong.

Then, knowing that I process best through writing, he asked me to do a blog post, once each week, for six weeks, on a different word from my list. So, fourth in the series – directed.

I don’t want it to sound like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off at the old brokerage – that’s not what I was doing! But since I decided to go to the new agency, I feel like I’ve been on a mission, I am much more directed now in my plans. I know which direction I am going, I know how to get there, I have a mental map of the route.

I was shopping the other day and I was walking out of the store when the sign pictured above caught my eye. I literally stopped still in my tracks, turned, and walked over to the table on which it rested. I picked it up and held it in my hands. I almost welled up with tears.

I know where I am going, and it isn’t backward. This is a wonderful feeling, to be headed in a positive direction and to be focused on the goal, free to pursue it, and brave enough to tackle obstacles that may impede my progress.

Cari McGee

My husband and I came to the Tri-Cities in 1994, and we thought it would be a temporary stop on our way to larger cities. He was a television sports anchor at the time, and we planned to go wherever the "next step up" took us. Twenty-plus years later, we're still here and we've loved every minute of it! We have two children now, and we've found the Tri-Cities area is a wonderful place to raise a family. It's a great place to do outdoorsy things -- I like to hike Badger Mountain or run along the river path. I also love reading ... by a cozy fire in the winter or a beautiful picture window in the summer (with the A/C on!). I've been a licensed Realtor since 2004. I earned my managing broker's license in 2016, which means I can run my own brokerage, or create a team of real estate agents and supervise them, which is exactly what I did when I formed the Cari McGee Real Estate Team in 2018! We have administrative and marketing personnel, as well as additional agents to serve you. I became a director of the Tri-Cities Association of Realtors Board of Directors in 2016, became Secretary/Treasurer of the organization, and was elected to Vice President in 2019.
