Last week I went to a business conference in Las Vegas. It was RE/MAX’s Annual Convention, called R4. I went to a safety class (no more Open Houses for me!) and the instructor had this quote on one of the slides –
I find it interesting in this world of ready access to quotes, even with a Bartlett’s Book of Familiar Quotations nearby, I’d never heard that before.
SO MUCH of my job is based on gut feelings. This never-before-seen client that wants to meet me at my new listing…valid buyer or assaulter? Will the market support a $5,000 increase over the comps on this house just because it’s decorated perfectly? The dreamy-eyed look this buyer has…is this house THE ONE, or did the buyer not get enough sleep last night?
Don’t get me wrong – a LOT of my job is also numbers-based and details and fact-finding. It’s walking that line between the two worlds, using just enough of the gift and the servant, that creates the perfect scenario.
