5 Favorites from the 2019 Parade of Homes

By in Buyers with 0 Comments

The 2019 Parade of Homes (and Chefs on Parade) has come to an end, and it was a wonderful showcase of our local builders! (And our local chefs, in the case of Chefs on Parade!)

Black and white was everywhere this year — and lots of gray, too. It feels like a return to simplicity in home design and decor, which includes minimal color and minimal design flourishes. With the exception of one beautiful brick house, everything we saw was pretty clean and simple. “Updated farmhouse” feels like the style of the day.

I’m sure you found a few favorites as you walked through this year’s Parade of Homes — I did, too! And here are the homes and features that really grabbed my eye.

Brick Inside & Out

Brick is definitely in! Quite a lot of brick was used this year — we saw it on walls, floors, fireplaces, and exteriors. Here are a few of my fave brick looks. I really like the look of that white/grey brick fireplace in the third photo.

Fireplace & Mantle

I loved this fireplace and mantle, which looks like it could be in an early California hacienda!

Beautiful Built-Ins

I love the built-ins! I love them on either side of the mantle, as a window seat, in the nook entering a master bedroom, and as book/display cases. We saw built-ins everywhere we went, and here are three of my favorites.

“X” Marks a Great Front Door

I LOVE these front doors!! They’re so different, and a perfect fit for this style house. They really make a statement. Here are photos from both outside and inside.

Herringbone Tile

I loved the herringbone-patterned tile in this bathroom. Done correctly, this looks so cool, I think!

Cari McGee

My husband and I came to the Tri-Cities in 1994, and we thought it would be a temporary stop on our way to larger cities. He was a television sports anchor at the time, and we planned to go wherever the "next step up" took us. Twenty-plus years later, we're still here and we've loved every minute of it! We have two children now, and we've found the Tri-Cities area is a wonderful place to raise a family. It's a great place to do outdoorsy things -- I like to hike Badger Mountain or run along the river path. I also love reading ... by a cozy fire in the winter or a beautiful picture window in the summer (with the A/C on!). I've been a licensed Realtor since 2004. I earned my managing broker's license in 2016, which means I can run my own brokerage, or create a team of real estate agents and supervise them, which is exactly what I did when I formed the Cari McGee Real Estate Team in 2018! We have administrative and marketing personnel, as well as additional agents to serve you. I became a director of the Tri-Cities Association of Realtors Board of Directors in 2016, became Secretary/Treasurer of the organization, and was elected to Vice President in 2019.
