Happy Halloween

My son’s idea of Hell is dressing up as someone he is not and asking strangers for candy. My daughter’s idea of Heaven is the same thing. Daughter and I went out and trick-or-treated almost to exhaustion. We saw tons of people I knew and some kids from her class at school – glassy-eyed and [...]
2,664 Reasons Why It’s OK for the Cougars to Beat the Huskies

At William Wiley Elementary in West Richland, WA, they have an annual food drive. Two years ago, the Apple Cup Canned Food Battle began. Children donated canned goods and instant meal packages into their favorite team’s box. We have a ton more Cougar fans than Husky fans in this part of the state, so the Cougars [...]
Us vs. Them?

I was contacted a while back by a woman who is interested in keeping a portion of West Richland and Richland undeveloped. A portion of the land is currently zoned RR-5, which means there can be one house every five acres. She said she felt that many like-minded conservationists viewed Realtors as the ‘them’ in [...]
Life in West Richland, WA

I would imagine that if you had a good childhood (as I did), you would want to have your children’s childhoods be as similar to yours as possible. My husband grew up in Levittown, PA, which is about thirty minutes outside of Philadelphia. I grew up in Hacienda Heights, CA which is about thirty minutes outside of Los Angeles. [...]
The Power of the Parent and the Community in Tri-Cities, WA

I admit I’m a little heavy on the West Richland blog posts, but I live there, so I know this stuff! In 2004, the Wiley Elementary PTO was asked to spearhead an effort to get new computers for the school’s computer lab. The PTO that year tabled the suggestion for next year’s PTO to handle. [...]
But wait, there’s more…(formerly part of the West Richland, WA Water Worries series).

Thought I’d change the title … In the face of more opposition, they decided to do it anyway. “They” being the CID, and the “opposition” being an additional 174 objections to the Belmont LID. Clearly, this is a more accurate assessment of how people feel. If it really bothers someone, hopefully he or she has [...]
West Richland, WA Water Worries, Part 4
Posted on Jun 11, 2007 by Cari McGee in West Richland Real Estate
Gee, this is getting a little like Rocky… Anyway, the Tri-City Herald recently reported that the CID is going to take another look at the “if-we-don’t-show-up-that-means-we’re-in-favor-of-it” aspect of the LID vote. I’m glad that all is not lost and that the little guy still can make a difference!
West Richland, WA Water Worries, Part 3

Do the folks at the Herald read this blog? They finally reprinted the map I’ve been begging for! You cannot see it in the online version of the story, which is a shame, but at least it’s there in the actual paper. It’s affecting fewer people than I thought. It looks some part of the LID [...]
